deepdesign®

deepdesign® is a design studio that has been working for 30 years at the intersection of industrial design, innovation, brand strategy, and creative direction.
The scope of deepdesign® projects is broad and diverse, as the studio has always operated as a consultancy, designing across many sectors—for example, but not limited to: consumer electronics, medical devices, household products, cookware, mobility, office and children’s accessories, lighting, and digital interfaces. The range spans from everyday objects (such as the Imetec electric broom) to entire product collections (such as the SMEG small appliances line). deepdesign® also works in architecture and interiors, most often as a natural extension of the brand and its product system.
The studio’s strongest expertise lies in consumer electronics and appliances, fields in which its competencies are internationally recognized.
The deepdesign® approach is human-centered: products emerge from empathy with users rather than from a stylistic signature. Many deepdesign®-designed objects have become iconic and have been acquired by permanent design and architecture collections (e.g., Dandelion Lamp, MoMA, NYC). The focus is always on clarity, usability, innovation, and the quiet delight of everyday life.
deepdesign® was originally founded in Milan by Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti in 1995. Today, it is a consistent group of Italian and international designers specialized in different fields.
